Our ringers can now be seen live on camera! Alan Ellis recently installed cameras among the bells and in the ringing chamber, with monitors in both the ringing chamber and the church lobby. We hope to generate interest among the congregation and attract new recruits. But some parishioners may be wondering why we all seem to wear bright blue shirts; some fine-tuning is still needed, unless we want to be known for our remarkable colour coordination! In recent weeks, two band members have achieved "firsts" in ringing successful quarter peals. Hats off to Pam Cooper, who rang Plain Bob Doubles on treble on February 27 in commemoration of her 75th birthday. Congratulations also to Celia Chan, who covered on Plain Bob Doubles on March 13.
The Seattle outpost is making the most of having Ander Holroyd on the US side of the border for a few months. Handbell evenings have become a semi-regular fixture (all welcome, contact Rebecca Woodgate) and in February Ander (as conductor), Mark Verrey, Rachel Pusey and Dilip Sequeira rang a handbell quarter of Bob Major, Dilip?s first quarter (congratulations Dilip!) When possible, the group comes to Vancouver for a dedicated session learning the big bells too.
Our relatively small, but enthusiastic band looks forward to contributing to the next hundred years of ringing in our tower.
